Testimonials

Greg Corman and Gardening Insights were recommended to us by a trusted friend. As soon as we met with him, we knew we’d found a knowledgeable professional who was willing to teach us, listen to our concerns and ideas, and help us implement our developing plan. Greg helped us work with what we had (to control costs) and greatly enhanced our lifestyle. We would readily use and recommend Greg again for someone interested in interesting landscape designs which highlight the varying Tucson native plants and environments.” -Steve C. and Renee C.

Greg Corman has been a part of our Gardens and Gardening programming here at Tohono Chul Park for more than five years. As an instructor, Greg’s ability to engage an audience is amazing. His plant knowledge is vast, and his creativity and vision in experimenting with new approaches to landscape design is definitely cutting edge. Greg has always been easy to work with, receptive to suggestions and willing to meet the challenge of developing custom classes.” -Jo Falls Director of Public Programs Tohono Chul Park

Coming here as a fairly experienced Midwestern gardener, I was a totally with out knowledge and skill relevant to desert gardening. Greg’s workshop gave me hope that with help, I could enjoy my gardening hobby here, too. He’s such a good teacher, and an advocate for making the most of the plants that do best in this environment. I really appreciated your helping us focus on landscape changes that fit with the time we spend here in Arizona, in the winter. The placement of plants and shrubs is very pleasing, and even in our small garden, there is contrast in texture that is attractive even when the plants aren’t in bloom. I learned that less is best, when the choices are made thoughtfully and in keeping with the environment. I always felt we were working in cooperation, but when I was “muddling around” he always came through with just the plan I would have made if I knew what it was I wanted!” -Ilene K. Tucson

I chose Gardening Insights on the recommendation of a docent at Tohono Chul Park. I would be happy to choose Gardening Insights again for future projects. Greg Corman made me feel supported and cared for during the design process. His services met and exceeded my expectations. Together we planned a design for my new house that overcame an ugly, bare, rectangular tract home backyard. Curvilinear lines and soft plantings improved the appearance of the space tremendously, while providing me with wonderful color, lots of birds and butterflies and a wonderful vegetable garden with high quality soil. I learned how to work together with a landscape designer to achieve my goal of an attractive, shady, easy care backyard of drought tolerant plants with space for a garden and storage. Greg has provided on-going follow up support as needed.” -Laura S. Tucson

Working with Greg was so much fun! Aside from coming up with his own really imaginative, ecologically sound, and playful landscapes, he listened to my ideas too so that the project became totally collaborative. And, guess what? He shows up when he says he’ll be there!!” -Roberta L. Tucson

We first met Greg when he was lecturing at one of the Tucson Botanical Garden’s lecture series. His knowledge was impressive, his openness to questions more so, and his willingness to share information most helpful. Shortly thereafter we asked Greg to help us with the design, procurement and installation of landscaping for our new home situated on a bladed lot. The outcome has exceeded our expectations. The plantings are very largely maintenance-free, but imaginative, with structure and color that complement one another. He has been a patient tutor to guide us in our transition from English country gardens to desert landscaping. It has been enjoyable and educational, and we have no reservations about recommending him to others.” -Tom & Mary Ellen M.

After spending thousands of dollars on landscaping that did not work for us, we finally met Greg. Greg has an incredible understanding and passion for the desert, desert landscapes and architecture. He has provided for us an outdoor paradise that is so much fun and we absolutely love. It elicits oohs and ahhs from everyone who visits. The best compliments, though, are from the hummingbirds and butterflies who are regular visitors. We are inspired by Greg’s creativity and attention to detail and look forward to many more exciting adventures together.” -Sandi K. and Tom J.

We wanted a garden design that is aesthetically pleasing, enhances the outside of our new home and reflects the Tucson desert environment regarding low water usage and plant selection. Greg Corman from Gardening Insights (created) a design that met all of these criteria. Greg’s vast knowledge of desert plants has allowed the landscape design to encompass a wide variety of interesting and out of the ordinary plants that nicely complement each other and are well suited for our garden space. Furthermore, watering needs are indeed minimal and have hardly added any cost to our monthly water bill. We are delighted and highly satisfied with our new garden and feel fortunate to have found such a good designer in Greg.” -Susan and Robin R.

Greg is a very creative professional and is very easy to work with. He has a great attitude and strives to achieve the best results for the projects he is working on. Greg is always thinking of new ideas for art or landscape projects and, as a true connector and collaborator, creates opportunities for professional or social exchanges. Our mutual customers hold him in very high regard. They value his knowledge and attitude and his broad knowledge of plants and desert landscapes.” -Tidhar Ozeri – Owner: Ozeri Metal Designs

Greg came to us highly recommended by a conservationist/botanist neighbor. She had attended several of his lectures and respects his xeriscape philosophy. Greg is amazingly responsive. He spent several hours with us talking about appropriate plants based on our intended use. He was never in a hurry and made sure he was available to discuss our concerns, answered all our questions (and we had many), and is a fantastic educator. To us, Greg’s most impressive quality is his integrity. The man is impressive. It’s just not in his work, what he stands for and believes in, the way he respects people and all ‘things’, it is also those he surrounds himself with. He recommended a number of people from business owners, carpenters, building supply folks, artists, quarry men (for rocks) – every person he recommended that we worked with was honest and produced amazing work. Finally, Greg is very much a part of our life and probably will always be. We know, even though our contract has ended, we can (and do) pick up the phone, call him, and he responds with integrity, flexibility, and inspiring insight.” -Cynthia and Carl P. Seattle/Tucson
